 Tony and Boogie amps
« Thread Started on Mar 18, 2009, 8:34pm »

I know he used Laney in the 70's and then switched to Marshalls for Heaven and Hell. I've heard that for the Mob Rules album/tour he was using Mesa/Boogie amps before going back to Marshalls and then going back to Laney which created the Iommi signature amp.
Was he using Boogie amps for Born Again, Seventh Star, etc.
For example with the StoneHenge set up, in pictures you cant see his amps. Were the cabs still Marshall or Laney?

DAWK SAYS:

YES,,, I THINK IT WAS THE ''BOOGIE'S'' WITH THE ''MARSHALL'' (1960/B) CABS...

MY ''MARSHALL'S'' WERE TO POWERFUL FOR HIM...

AND BY THEN ''LANEY'' HAD COPIED ''MARSHALL'' AND WAS BUILDING SOME
GOOD AMPS...

THE BOTTOM LINE IS,,, ''TONY'' WAS ALWAYS A ''LANEY'' MAN...

YOURS,,, JOHN''DAWK''STILLWELL...

Yeah the Supergroup is a very nice sounding amp. I own a 100 and a pre-supergroup 60. I cant' tell you how much I enjoy those amps. I belive the 60 has better tone than some of the early plexi and smallbox Marshalls.
