I recently bought a 1987 50 Watt MK2, JCM 800.

DAWK SAYS:
OK,,, THE (1987) MKII IS SOUPED UP ''MARSHALL'' AMP...
THE MKII MEANS IT HAS MORE POWER ABOUT 70 WATTS BECAUSE; IT HAS 6550/A OUTPUT TUBES...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I think it's a 2203?
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
THE MODEL (2203) IS A 100WATT WITH A MASTER GAIN CONTROL...
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Anyways, it a non-master controlled.
It's also a bit different than any other JCM 800 I've ever seen.
It has 4 inputs, similar to a Plexi.
Currently I am jumping the channels, so I'm kind of getting that "Bassman" effect.
My question is...When I play it, it's so damn loud, I can barely get the volume knob up to "1".
Anything over that, the animals in the neighborhood start dying.
If I buy an attenuator, how is it used on this amp? It has a "DI" (I'm assuming Direct Input) plug in the back.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
I WOULD DO A SIMPLE MOD BY ADDING A MASTER VOLUME CONTROL...
USING ONE OF THE (4) INPUT JACKS OR THE POLAILTY SWITCH HOLE...
OR YOU COULD INSTALL THE (50) OHM (100) WATT RESISTOR MOD ACROSS THE PRIMARY OF THE OUTPUT TRANSFORMER...
I WOULD GET THIS DONE MY A TECH...
YOURS,,, JOHN''DAWK''STILLWELL...

The other JCM 800's I have seen, have an effects loop plug in.
How do I use this, so I can actually turn up the amp, to hear it's real tones without blowing up my head.
(Meaning the one attached to my shoulders!)
